Abstract
Educational institutions and the state cultural apparatus play a decisive role in canon formation. As an academic subfield usually linked to institutions of higher education and sometimes to government agencies, literary historiography attempts to give the national canon a fixed form, a chronological and thematic structure that aims to regulate the study of literature in the educational field.
